Short-arc xenon lamps are specialty discharge lamps designed around a very small, intense arc that delivers exceptionally high luminance. Their output is broadly continuous across the visible spectrum and close to “daylight,” which makes them a preferred source for microscopy illumination, high-end imaging, machine vision, spectroscopy, and other optical systems where color fidelity and stable brightness matter.

These are not interchangeable with general bulbs. Xenon short-arc replacements must match the equipment’s specified wattage, base/connector, arc position, reflector design (if reflectorized), and operating requirements to maintain beam geometry and optical alignment.
