TX609 TechniCloth 9" x 9" Cellulose and Polyester Cleanroom Wiper

ITW Texwipe is a worldwide leader in contamination control supplies and critical cleaning products including lint free clean room wipers, cleanroom swabs, cleanroom stationery, sterile products, adhesive mats and more.

ITW Texwipe TX609 TechniCloth wipers are fabricated from a hydro-entangled, non-woven blend of 55% cellulose and 45% polyester. This fabric blend combines the highly absorbent properties of a natural fiber with the cleanliness and strength of a synthetic wiper. With its low particle counts, low extractable levels and solvent compatibility, TechniCloth is ideal for general wiping and spill control in controlled environments.

ITW Texwipe TX609 Features:

  • Fiber blend (55% cellulose and 45% polyester)
  • Non-woven, hydro-entangled construction with excellent bidirectional strength
  • Solvent-safe Bag-Within-A-Bag cleanroom packaging
  • Statistical quality control
  • Autoclave Safe

ITW Texwipe TX609 Benefits:

  • Excellent wet and dry strength due to the polyester
  • Highly absorbent due to the cellulose
  • Compatible with most solvents
  • Contains no chemical binders
  • Low extractable levels

ITW Texwipe TX609 Applications:

  • Designed for general-purpose wiping where economy and cleanliness are of critical importance
  • Ideal for applications where high absorbency and low extractables are prime considerations

When “More Absorbent” Is the Right Tradeoff: What TX609 Reveals About Cellulose/Polyester Wipers in Controlled Environments

The Technical Vault  |  By SOSCleanroom

Texwipe TX609 TechniCloth (9" × 9") is a dry, nonwoven cellulose/polyester cleanroom wiper built for situations where fluid pickup and solution handling are the priority—without abandoning the discipline of controlled-environment manufacturing.

This substrate class exists for a reason: many wipe tasks are governed less by “ultimate cleanliness” and more by whether the wiper can quickly absorb, hold, and remove aqueous contamination and cleaning chemistry without tearing, smearing, or forcing operators into repeated strokes that re-deposit soils.

What It’s For

TX609 is best used for general-purpose wiping, spill control (especially aqueous spills), and solution application and removal on benches, equipment exteriors, carts, pass-through items, and other routine controlled-environment surfaces. It is frequently selected where a facility needs a dependable wiper that is strong wet or dry, highly absorbent, solvent compatible, and packaged for cleaner transfer into ISO-classified areas.

Decision Drivers

  • Substrate and construction: hydroentangled nonwoven blend (55% cellulose / 45% polyester) for high sorbency plus wet strength.
  • Edge strategy: cut edge, appropriate for many routine wipe steps.
  • Cleanliness framework: published typical values for particles/fibers, NVR, and extractable ions support qualification and change control.
  • No binders: designed without chemical binders to reduce unwanted residue risk.
  • Packaging discipline: solvent-safe Bag-Within-A-Bag format with double bagging.
  • Autoclavable: compatible with facilities that sterilize non-sterile wipes.
  • ISO fit: positioned for ISO 5–8 applications using risk-based selection.

Materials and Construction: Practical Implications

TX609 uses a deliberately mixed fiber system. Cellulose provides the absorbency engine—wicking and holding water-based fluids efficiently for spill pickup and wet cleaning. Polyester contributes strength, abrasion resistance, and dimensional stability when wet.

Expectations matter: there is no truly lint-free wiper. Cellulose-containing nonwovens are chosen because they outperform many synthetics in absorbency-driven tasks, even though continuous-filament polyester knits are often preferred for the most defect-sensitive final wipe steps.

Cleanliness and Performance: Interpreting the Data

  1. Absorbency behavior: fast wetting and solid capacity reduce smearing and overworking.
  2. Particles and fibers: durability plus controlled releasables matter under higher wiping forces.
  3. Nonvolatile residue (NVR): relevant for alcohol and fast-evaporating solvent use.
  4. Extractable ions: especially relevant for corrosion-sensitive or electronic processes.

Why Bag-Within-A-Bag Packaging Matters

TX609 is supplied as 300 wipers per double-bagged inner unit, 10 bags per case. This supports cleaner transfer by allowing the outer bag to be removed before entry into higher-grade areas, reducing the risk of shipping and handling contamination entering the process.

Best-Practice Use

  • Fold consistently to create multiple clean faces.
  • Use single-direction, overlapping strokes.
  • Change faces early to prevent redeposition.
  • Control wetness to avoid pooling or streaking.
  • For critical steps, pair TX609 with a higher-purity synthetic for final wiping.

Common Failure Modes—and How to Prevent Them

  • Using TX609 as a final wipe on highly defect-sensitive surfaces.
  • Overusing a loaded wipe face.
  • Inconsistent wetting leading to streaking.

Where TX609 Fits in a Controlled Wiping Program

TX609 excels in absorb-and-lift roles across ISO 5–8 environments. When process criticality increases, best practice is to retain TX609 for first-pass cleaning and introduce a higher-purity synthetic wipe for final-pass control.
