SOS Disposable Yellow Isolation Gown — Universal Spunbond Polypropylene PPE Gown, Open-Back with Two Ties, Elastic Cuffs, Latex-Free, Single-Use (50/Case)
PPE / Safety Isolation Gown Spunbond Polypropylene Universal Size Open-Back / 2 Ties Elastic Cuffs Latex-Free 50 / Case

Overview

This disposable yellow isolation gown is a practical, economical layer of additional protection for technicians, nurses, and other professionals when basic infection-control coverage is needed. Constructed from spunbond polypropylene, it is intended for workflows with minimal fluid exposure where reducing contamination transfer to clothing is a key safety objective.

The open-back design with two tie straps supports quick donning and a secure fit, while elastic cuffs help maintain wrist coverage during routine tasks.

Why this gown matters for safety programs
  • Reduces clothing contamination: Helps limit transfer of contaminants to uniforms and street clothes during patient care, lab handling, and routine facility tasks.
  • Simple, consistent fit: Universal sizing plus two ties support quick issue and consistent wear across teams and shifts.
  • Wrist interface control: Elastic cuffs help reduce sleeve ride-up during reaching, lifting, and surface contact work.
  • Latex-free: Supports facilities managing latex sensitivity concerns.

Typical tasks supported
  • Routine patient care and transport support where gowning is required by facility protocol
  • General lab and sample-handling workflows (non-sterile, non-aseptic)
  • Housekeeping and environmental services tasks involving potential contact with soiled surfaces
  • Visitor protection and controlled access areas (as defined by site SOP)

Packaging and handling

Sold by the case: 50 gowns per case. For best results, stage gowns at the point of use, and train staff to replace immediately if torn, heavily soiled, or compromised.

Disposal should follow your site SOP and local requirements based on the substance(s) encountered.

Storage and lifecycle control
  • Store in original packaging, in a cool, dry area away from direct sunlight and moisture.
  • Protect cartons from crushing to prevent damage/contamination prior to use.
  • Use FIFO inventory rotation as part of your PPE program controls.

Safety program references (practical)
  • Risk-based PPE selection: Choose PPE based on the hazard and expected exposure mode (splash, spray, contact, dust).
  • Standard Precautions concept: Wear PPE whenever exposure to infectious material is expected.
  • Training matters: Donning/doffing technique reduces secondary exposure and keeps hands from contaminating scrubs and street clothes.

PPE Program Article Isolation Gown Basics Universal Spunbond PP Minimal Fluid Exposure

Isolation gowns are a “routine” control that prevents non-routine events

Most contamination and exposure incidents do not begin with a major spill. They begin with small, repeated contacts: leaning over a bed rail, reaching into a bin, handling a sample, or wiping down a surface. Isolation gowns are one of the simplest, most effective ways to reduce clothing contamination and lower the chance that contaminants travel from task to task.

What this gown is (and what it is not)

The SOS Disposable Yellow Isolation Gown (SOS PG-001) is constructed from spunbond polypropylene and is intended for basic infection-control coverage where minimal fluid exposure is expected. It is an open-back gown with two ties and elastic cuffs, designed for quick donning and consistent fit in day-to-day workflows.

Not a substitute for higher-barrier PPE.

  • If the task involves sustained spray, heavy fluid exposure, or chemical hazards, escalate PPE selection per your hazard assessment and SDS.
  • If sterile technique is required, use sterile products and sterile presentation controls as required by your SOP.

Fit and closure: where most PPE failures start

PPE only works when it stays on correctly during movement. The two-tie closure helps prevent gapping at the back during bending and reaching, while elastic cuffs support the glove-to-sleeve interface and reduce sleeve ride-up during repetitive motion.

Training-ready donning and doffing (reduce secondary exposure)
  • Donning: fully cover torso and arms; tie securely; confirm cuffs sit at the wrist.
  • Pair with gloves: pull glove cuffs over the gown cuffs for better wrist coverage.
  • During work: replace immediately if torn, heavily soiled, or compromised.
  • Doffing: treat the exterior as contaminated; remove by peeling away from the body, avoid shaking, and perform hand hygiene per SOP.

How to stage gowns so they actually get used

The most effective PPE programs remove friction: stage gowns at room entries and at the point of care, keep sizes consistent (universal helps), and train “change triggers” (task change, leaving the work zone, visible contamination, or damage). If staff have to hunt for PPE, compliance drops even when the policy is clear.

Documentation (for EHS and training binders)
