Dry cotton wipers are typically selected for specialty scenarios: high-temperature wipe-downs, equipment maintenance, and general cleaning where a tougher, more heat-tolerant fabric is helpful and the surface is not the most particle-sensitive step in the process. Cotton has a different risk profile than fully synthetic, sealed-edge wipes. It can be the right tool for hot tooling and robust handling, but it is not the default choice for the final wipe in semiconductor/microelectronics, critical aseptic areas, or other steps where fiber control is the primary driver. For those higher-sensitivity wipe steps, many teams reserve sealed-edge synthetics and keep cotton for maintenance and support cleaning to avoid introducing variables.
