Product Description
High-output stage & studio halogen lamp (ANSI BTR) engineered for theatre, TV/film, and professional photography luminaires.

Overview

The Osram / Sylvania BTR is a professional 1000W, 120V quartz tungsten-halogen lamp designed for demanding entertainment and imaging environments where stable color and reliable output matter. This single-ended halogen lamp uses a P28s (medium prefocus) base and is commonly specified by ANSI BTR. SKU: BTR (54689).

Key Highlights
  • Electrical: 1000W, 120V (AC)
  • ANSI Code: BTR
  • Base: P28s (medium prefocus)
  • Nominal Output: 27,500 lm
  • Color Temperature: 3200K
  • CRI: Ra 100
  • Average Life: 250 hours (nominal)
  • Filament: C-13D
  • LCL (Light Center Length): 2.165 in
Typical Applications
  • Stage & theatre luminaires specifying ANSI BTR / P28s
  • Studio, TV, & film lighting (continuous)
  • Professional photography lighting heads
  • Club & disco fixtures designed for 1000W halogen sources
Selection Tip (BTR vs “Other 1000W P28s”)
“1000W P28s” is not specific enough to ensure a correct match. For fixture performance (beam, focus, and reflector alignment), qualify by ANSI BTR and confirm LCL 2.165 in. Substituting a different LCL can shift the filament position relative to the fixture optics.
Handling Tip
Halogen lamps operate at high temperature and are sensitive to contamination. Avoid touching the quartz with bare hands. Use clean nitrile gloves and/or a lint-free wipe, and allow full cool-down before removal.
Industry Update (Branding & Supply Continuity)
Effective March 1, 2026, the OSRAM Entertainment & Industry lamp business in the United States transitions to Ushio America, Inc. as the legal contracting entity under Ushio ownership. Customers may notice changes to branding, labeling, packaging, or invoicing entity even when the underlying lamp specification remains the same. SOSCleanroom will continue to support these lamps and can help qualify continuity by part number and critical specs (BTR, 120V, 1000W, P28s, LCL).
Need help selecting the right product?
Always confirm fixture voltage (120V), ANSI BTR specification, and base type (P28s medium prefocus) prior to installation.

Lamp Science (Halogen Cycle + Why LCL Matters)

The BTR is a quartz tungsten-halogen lamp: a tungsten filament operates at high temperature inside a quartz envelope with halogen chemistry. The regenerative halogen cycle helps limit envelope darkening and supports more consistent output over the rated life compared with non-halogen incandescent sources. Like most halogen sources, it is dimmable with the expected amber shift as filament temperature decreases.

In stage and studio fixtures, the lamp is part of the optical system. The filament geometry (C-13D) and light center length (LCL) determine where the luminous source sits relative to reflectors and lenses. That’s why ANSI code + LCL are controlling specs for preserving beam shape, focus, and photometric performance.

Compare & Contrast (BTR vs BTL and Other P28s Lamps)
BTR and BTL may share a similar base family (P28s) but differ in wattage, color temperature, lumen output, and LCL. If a fixture is calibrated around BTR, substituting a different lamp—even with the same base—can change focus and intensity distribution. Qualify by ANSI BTR first, then confirm LCL when fixture performance is critical.
Cross-Reference (Market Equivalents)
BTR is widely cross-referenced across entertainment lighting catalogs. When considering alternates, qualify by ANSI BTR, 120V, 1000W, P28s, and (fixture-sensitive) LCL. If you share your fixture model, SOSCleanroom can help confirm the correct cross-reference for your application.
Safety & Fixture Requirements
Operate only in luminaires designed for high-wattage halogen lamps with appropriate protective shielding and thermal management. These lamps generate significant heat—maintain fixture clearances, keep ventilation paths unobstructed, and follow luminaire manufacturer guidance.
