Product Description
High-output MR16 dichroic reflector halogen lamp (ANSI ENH) for projection and precision optical illumination.

Overview

The Osram / Sylvania ENH is a projection-grade 250W, 120V quartz tungsten-halogen lamp built in the MR16 reflector format for controlled, repeatable illumination in compact optical heads. It uses a GY5.3 bi-pin base and a dichroic reflector that helps manage heat by transmitting a portion of infrared through the reflector while maintaining a focused visible beam. (OSRAM reference: 93506 | Americas product number: 54986.)

Key Highlights
  • Electrical: 250W, 120V (AC)
  • ANSI Code: ENH
  • Shape: MR16 Reflector
  • Base: GY5.3 bi-pin
  • Nominal Output: 340 lumens
  • Color Temperature: 3150K
  • CRI: Ra 100
  • Average Life: 175 hours (nominal)
  • Reflector Coating: Dichroic
Typical Applications
  • Slide and specialty projection systems specifying ANSI ENH
  • Optical illumination assemblies where MR16 reflector focus is part of the design
  • Instrumentation and specialty illumination platforms requiring stable output and repeatable lamp seating
Selection Tip (Prevent Mis-Matches)
Many MR16 lamps share the same reflector diameter and similar bi-pin interfaces but differ in voltage, filament geometry, and reflector optics. For correct replacement, qualify by ANSI ENH and 120V first—then confirm base (GY5.3) and fixture requirements.
Handling Tip
Halogen reflector lamps operate at high temperature and are sensitive to contamination. Avoid touching the glass/reflector with bare hands. Use clean nitrile gloves and/or a lint-free wipe to reduce residue and hot-spot failure risk. Allow full cool-down before removal.
Industry Update (Branding & Supply Continuity)
Ushio is scheduled to assume the U.S. Entertainment & Industry (ENI) lamp business as the legal contracting entity effective March 1, 2026. During this transition, customers may notice changes to branding, labeling, packaging, or invoicing entity even when the underlying lamp specification remains the same. SOSCleanroom will continue to support these lamps and can help qualify continuity by part number and critical specs (ANSI ENH, 120V, 250W, MR16, GY5.3).
Need help selecting the right product?
Always confirm fixture voltage (120V), ANSI ENH specification, and base type (GY5.3) prior to installation.

How It’s Built (Quartz Pinch + Reflector Alignment Physics)

ENH belongs to the HLX reflector family, designed to maintain precise filament-to-reflector alignment using controlled quartz pinch manufacturing. In projectors and optical heads, beam performance depends on where the filament “sits” relative to the reflector and the system’s condenser optics—small shifts can change focus, uniformity, and coupling efficiency.

The dichroic reflector is engineered to reflect visible light while transmitting a portion of infrared through the reflector. This can help reduce forward heat loading on slides/optics in compact projector heads (real-world thermal results depend on fixture airflow and design).

Compare & Contrast (Why “MR16” Alone Isn’t Enough)
“MR16” describes reflector diameter (2 inches), not the lamp’s electrical or optical identity. Substituting a different MR16 can change voltage, base, focal behavior, and thermal profile. For continuity, qualify by ANSI ENH + 120V + GY5.3 + (when critical) focal length.
Cross-Reference (Common Market Equivalents)
ENH is widely cross-referenced across projection lamp catalogs. Common equivalents include: Ushio 1000333 (JCR120V-250W / ENH) and other ANSI ENH listings from major lamp brands. Always validate ANSI ENH, 120V, and GY5.3 before substituting.
Safety & Fixture Requirements
Halogen lamps may only be operated in suitable luminaires designed with protective mechanisms (shields/grids) to ensure that, in the unlikely event of lamp bursting, no parts/shards can escape and that during operation no ultraviolet radiation can escape. These lamps also generate high heat—follow fixture manufacturer guidance.
Industry Update (Ushio & ENI Continuity)
Ushio is scheduled to assume the U.S. Entertainment & Industry (ENI) lamp business as the legal contracting entity effective March 1, 2026. During the transition, branding or packaging updates may occur even when lamp specifications remain unchanged. SOSCleanroom will continue supporting these lamps and qualifying continuity by part number and critical specifications.
