Product Description
High-temperature ceramic lampholder for G9.5 medium 2-pin lamps (stage, studio, and high-output halogen systems).

Overview

The Osram / Sylvania TP22 is a professional G9.5 lampholder built for high-temperature, high-output lamp systems where socket quality directly affects reliability. TP22 sockets are commonly used with G9.5 medium 2-pin halogen lamps in stage and studio lighting, projection, and other specialty fixtures where secure electrical contact, heat resistance, and repeatable lamp seating are critical.

Key Highlights
  • Socket Type: G9.5 (medium 2-pin)
  • Design: High-temperature ceramic body (built for hot halogen environments)
  • Performance Goal: Consistent contact pressure and seating to help maximize lamp life and fixture reliability
  • Compliance: Commonly listed as UL-recognized and CE-certified in this lampholder family (variant dependent)
  • Use Case: Stage/studio luminaires, halogen instrumentation, and specialty equipment using G9.5 lamps
Typical Applications
  • Stage and studio fixtures using G9.5 base lamps (e.g., FEL and other entertainment lamp families)
  • High-temperature halogen fixtures requiring ceramic lampholders
  • Halogen instrumentation and specialty lighting equipment
Selection Tip (Avoid Mis-Matches)
“G9.5” identifies the lamp interface, but sockets can vary by lead length, wire gauge, mounting hardware, and high-heat features. Match your existing socket by base type (G9.5), fixture style, and lead configuration to maintain fit and reliability.
Installation Note
Replace sockets that show heat discoloration, cracking, looseness, or intermittent lamp contact. In high-wattage halogen systems, poor contact increases resistance, raises local temperature, and can accelerate lamp and socket failure.
Industry Update (Branding & Supply Continuity)
Ushio is scheduled to assume the U.S. Entertainment & Industry (ENI) lamp business as the legal contracting entity effective March 1, 2026. During this transition, customers may notice changes to branding, labeling, packaging, or invoicing entity even when the underlying specifications remain the same. SOSCleanroom will continue to support these products and can help qualify continuity by part number and critical specs (base type and fixture requirements) to ensure you receive the correct item across branding changes.
Need help selecting the right product?
Confirm your lamp base (G9.5), fixture model, and lead/mounting configuration before installation. We can help match the correct TP22-style socket to your existing setup.

G9.5 Socket
Osram / Sylvania TP22 — Lampholder / Socket for G9.5 (Medium 2-Pin)
High-temperature ceramic lampholder family designed for reliable electrical contact and repeatable seating in high-output halogen fixtures.
Core Qualification Fields (What Matters)
Socket Interface G9.5 (Medium 2-Pin)
Body Material High-temperature ceramic (commonly steatite in this family)
Electrical Rating (Family Typical) Up to 250V and up to 1000W (variant dependent)
Compliance (Variant Dependent) Often UL-recognized and CE-certified in the TP22 family
Common Build Options Lead length / wire gauge, mounting bracket style, and high-heat features
Why the Socket Matters (The Reliability Physics)

In high-output halogen fixtures, socket performance is fundamentally about contact resistance and thermal stability. A worn socket can lose contact force; even small increases in resistance create localized heating at the pins, which accelerates oxidation, weakens spring force, and can lead to intermittent operation, flicker, or premature lamp failure.

Ceramic bodies (commonly steatite) are used because they maintain mechanical integrity at elevated temperatures and resist deformation near hot lamps. High-quality contact materials help preserve conductivity and mechanical spring properties under repeated heat cycles.

TP22 Family Notes (Common Variants)
TP22 sockets are commonly encountered as a “family” with variations (for example, leaded versions often referenced as TP22XL). The base interface stays G9.5, but mounting geometry, wire length, and temperature-oriented features can differ. When replacing, match: socket style, mounting, lead length, and fixture requirements—not just “G9.5.”
Field Indicators (Replace the Socket If…)
Replace the lampholder if you see cracking, glazing, brittleness, loose pin grip, arcing marks, intermittent output, or heat discoloration. In G9.5 systems (often 575W–1000W class), socket wear is a leading cause of repeat lamp failures.
