Stereo Microscopy in Cleanroom & Controlled Environments
Why stereo microscopes are used in cleanrooms
Stereo microscopes provide three-dimensional visualization, making them ideal for inspection, rework, and assembly tasks where depth perception is critical. In cleanrooms, stereo systems allow operators to work efficiently while minimizing unnecessary handling or repositioning of sensitive components.
Greenough optical design
The EMZ-8TR uses a Greenough stereo optical system, which delivers high contrast and flat field performance with excellent depth of focus. This design is well suited for industrial and cleanroom applications where visual clarity and reliability are prioritized over extreme magnification.
Working distance and contamination control
A 104 mm working distance provides ample clearance for tools, gloves, and samples, reducing the likelihood of accidental contact with optics. Maintaining distance between the objective and the work surface supports cleaner operation and easier compliance with gowning and handling protocols.
Documentation and process verification
Trinocular configurations allow image capture for training, quality records, and process validation without disrupting inspection flow. This capability is particularly valuable in regulated environments where visual evidence supports traceability and continuous improvement.
SOSCleanroom technical perspective
Optical systems are only as clean as their handling practices. SOSCleanroom supports microscopy applications with validated Texwipe cleaning products, cleanroom-compatible lighting, and application guidance to help preserve optical performance over time.
