The 3M Scrub Environmental Sampler Stick (ESS10WSN) is a ready-to-use microbial sample collection device, pre-hydrated with the proprietary 3M Wide Spectrum Neutralizer. This sampler stick is engineered to enhance efficiency and accuracy in environmental monitoring across food and beverage production facilities.

Designed with multilayered, non-woven composite material, the 3M scrub device delivers superior pickup, release, and absorbency—while maintaining structural integrity even on rough surfaces. Integrated scrub dot technology helps disrupt biofilm during sampling, improving microbial collection performance.

Each sampler stick is pre-filled with 10 mL of 3M Wide Spectrum Neutralizer, a formulation proven effective against various sanitizers commonly used in food processing environments—including quaternary ammonium compounds, chlorine-based agents, high-acid cleaners, hydrogen peroxide, and peroxyacetic acid-based sanitizers. This neutralizer is formulated without allergenic components, animal-derived materials (ADM), PCR inhibitors, or genetically modified organisms (GMOs), making it suitable for sensitive applications.

The ESS10WSN model is also compatible with 3M Petrifilm Plates and the 3M Molecular Detection System and offers up to 96 hours of sample hold time under refrigeration. A metal additive is embedded within the stick for enhanced metal detectability*, and the ergonomic design supports aseptic technique with a thumb-stop grip and one-step twist detachment.

Packaged in a 6” x 11” 3M Sample Bag with 30 oz (0.89 L) capacity, the 3M scrub sampler stick is housed in a double-laminated, puncture-resistant bag with a secure wire tie, blue top, and write-on area for easy identification. The complete unit is terminally decontaminated via gamma irradiation for safe and sterile transport to the lab.

This innovative solution—3M Scrub Sampler Stick ESS10WSN—is the first and only sampling device with a neutralizing agent to earn the AOAC Performance TestedSM Methods Certificate (#022104), delivering convenience, compliance, and confidence in environmental testing.
