Overview

Kimtech™ PURE M7 Face Veils are a hygienic, single-use alternative to reusable veils for ISO Class 7 and higher cleanroom environments where you need additional face coverage to reduce contamination risk at the operator interface. The low-lint, apertured polyethylene film construction is designed to provide exceptional breathability, while the covered nose piece helps the veil conform more comfortably to the nose and cheekbones.

SOSCleanroom supports best-in-class contamination control programs with Kimtech™ and Ansell solutions. Kimtech™ is part of the Ansell portfolio, and SOSCleanroom works closely with these leading manufacturers to help customers standardize PPE, align documentation, and reduce substitution risk in critical workflows.

Why this veil matters in controlled environments
  • Extra face coverage where shedding matters: helps reduce contamination risk in face/upper-body zones during routine cleanroom work.
  • Breathable, low-lint construction: apertured polyethylene film supports comfort and process protection.
  • Secure fit to reusable hoods: stainless-steel dual snaps are designed to attach to many reusable hood systems.
  • Cleanroom-ready packaging: double-bagged configuration supports cleaner staging and transfer practices.
  • Residue-sensitive compatibility: latex-free and silicone-free design supports processes where residues are scrutinized.

Typical tasks supported
  • Semiconductor, disk drive, data storage, and integrated circuit environments requiring additional face coverage
  • General cleanroom assembly, inspection, and kitting in ISO Class 7+ spaces
  • Support-area operations where process protection and comfort need to be balanced
  • Important: these veils are intended for process protection and are not a substitute for respirators or certified medical masks when respiratory protection is required.

Process-protection note Not intended to provide respiratory protection

If your operation requires respiratory protection or certified mask performance, select an appropriate respirator or certified cleanroom mask per your EHS/quality program. Face veils are used to support process protection and operator comfort in suitable ISO-classified spaces.

Packaging and handling (cleanroom staging)

The veils are double-bagged to support clean transfer practices. Open outer packaging in the correct transition/gowning zone per SOP, and avoid contacting the veil surface with bare hands or uncontrolled garments.

If packaging integrity is compromised, treat units as non-conforming and replace to protect your contamination control strategy.

EU GMP Annex 1 alignment notes (practical)

Annex 1 programs typically formalize gowning and face coverage as CCS controls. Selection is only one control; performance depends on validated donning technique, defined change triggers, and training.

  • Match the item to the area grade: for Grade A/B aseptic operations, use sterile, validated head-and-face PPE per CCS/SOPs (not a process veil).
  • Control substitutions: keep PPE model changes under change control to avoid drift in fit and operator behavior.
  • Define change triggers: tears, wetting/condensation, poor fit, or contact with uncontrolled surfaces should trigger replacement.

Storage and lifecycle control
  • Store in original packaging in a clean, dry location away from direct sunlight and physical damage.
  • Use FIFO and maintain lot traceability per your quality system.
  • Do not stage compromised packaging into ISO-classified areas.

Standards and regulatory references (where applicable)
  • ISO cleanroom classification context (ISO 14644-1): ISO 14644-1 (ISO.org)
  • Test method references used on published veil data sheets (examples): ASTM F2299; IEST-RP-CC-003.3
  • EU GMP Annex 1 (Manufacture of Sterile Medicinal Products): European Commission PDF

ISO-first contamination control Face veils vs masks Annex 1 practical notes

What the M7 Face Veil is (and what it is not)

The Kimtech™ PURE M7 Face Veil (dual snaps) is designed primarily for process protection in ISO Class 7 and higher cleanroom environments, especially where added face coverage and low-lint performance help reduce contamination risk.

Critical safety note

A face veil is not a respirator and is not intended to provide respiratory protection. If respiratory protection is required by EHS or process risk assessment, use the correct certified respirator or certified mask per your program.

Why dual snaps matter in cleanroom gowning
  • Stability = less re-touching: a stable veil reduces the temptation to adjust during work, which reduces transfer risk.
  • Hood integration: snaps help align the veil with reusable hood systems to close common gaps around the cheeks and nose area.
  • Comfort supports compliance: breathable construction and a covered nose piece can reduce discomfort and improve wear consistency.

Donning guidance (cleanroom discipline)
  1. Verify package integrity before gowning (no tears, punctures, moisture).
  2. Open outer bag in the correct transition area per SOP; maintain bag discipline (outer stays outside cleaner zone).
  3. Handle by approved points only (avoid touching the central veil area that faces the process).
  4. Fit the covered nose piece to reduce gaps and improve comfort; avoid over-manipulation after shaping.
  5. Attach snaps to compatible reusable hood system to maintain alignment through the task.

EU GMP Annex 1 practical notes (CCS mindset)

Annex 1 expects gowning to be controlled within the Contamination Control Strategy (CCS): the right PPE, worn the right way, changed at the right time, with training records to prove it.

  • Grade A/B aseptic work: typically requires sterile, validated head-and-face PPE systems; use sterile solutions per CCS/SOP.
  • Change strategy: define time-based and event-based changes (tear, wetting, uncontrolled contact, breaks).
  • Document control: keep veil model and hood compatibility controlled under change management.

Best-in-class system build (SOSCleanroom recommendations)
  • Standardize glove and garment interfaces: select cleanroom gloves and garments appropriate to your ISO class/room risk (and control substitutions).
  • Keep wipe-down tools at the point of use: use cleanroom wipers and swabs to support gowning-area touchpoint cleaning and controlled wipe-down tasks.
  • Use the right product for the hazard: if you need respiratory protection, step up to certified respirators or certified cleanroom masks per your program.
