Ansell AlphaTec® 58-201 Chemical & Temperature-Resistant Nitrile Gloves
1. Product scope & intended use
AlphaTec® 58-201 gloves are designed for work environments where
chemical exposure and elevated temperatures are present during routine handling.
This glove supports extended wear and active handling of warm components,
equipment, and tools.
The 58-201 is intended for process continuity in maintenance, processing, and industrial operations—
not for emergency splash response or extreme thermal exposure.
2. Material & construction analysis
The glove is constructed with a durable nitrile coating applied to a
heat-resistant textile liner. This combination provides resistance to
many industrial chemicals while slowing heat transfer during contact with warm objects.
Unlike laminated chemical barrier gloves, protection is achieved through
coating performance and liner insulation, allowing repeated handling without rapid material breakdown.
3. Chemical protection positioning
Chemical resistance in the AlphaTec® 58-201 is provided by the
nitrile coating, which performs well against oils, greases,
fuels, and many industrial chemicals.
This glove is suitable for contact handling and incidental splash.
It is not intended for prolonged immersion or unknown chemical permeation scenarios,
where laminated barrier gloves are more appropriate.
4. Thermal handling considerations
The AlphaTec® 58-201 is designed to support moderate thermal handling,
allowing users to safely manage warm parts, tooling, and surfaces encountered
during normal operations.
This glove is not intended for extreme heat, open flame contact,
or cryogenic conditions. Always verify thermal ratings and exposure limits
for your specific task.
5. Mechanical performance considerations
The reusable construction provides improved durability compared to disposable gloves,
supporting repetitive handling, tool use, and equipment interaction.
Mechanical performance ratings should be confirmed on product packaging,
as classifications can vary by size, region, and production lot.
6. Standards & guidance references
- EN 388 — mechanical performance (abrasion, tear, puncture)
- EN 407 — protection against thermal risks (verify specific heat ratings)
- Chemical resistance based on nitrile coating properties (not laminated permeation testing)
Confirm markings on the delivered product to ensure compliance with site and regional requirements.
7. Selection & use guidance
Choose AlphaTec® 58-201 when:
- Chemical contact and warm handling occur together
- Extended wear is required beyond disposable glove capability
- Grip and durability are critical to task safety
Consider other glove technologies for extreme heat,
unknown chemical exposure, or emergency splash response.
8. Recommended PPE pairings
Technical Vault note: This content supports PPE selection and program design.
Final glove selection should be based on documented chemical compatibility,
thermal exposure limits, task duration, and site-specific risk assessment.
