Our story: a breakfast-room table, a technical idea, and decades of adaptation
Specialty Optical Systems began in May 1981 at the breakfast-room table of the Petty family home in Dallas. The original business supplied microscopes, optical systems, and technical lighting to high-technology customers. By 1982, SOS had moved into its own building.
Serving precision manufacturers led SOS into semiconductor lighting, then supplier-managed inventory, and eventually cleanroom consumables.
