Overview

AlphaTec® 1500 Model 100 is a breathable SMS protective coverall engineered for general industrial safety programs where hazardous particulates and light liquid spray are credible risks. The manufacturer positions this garment as a particle-filtering solution with Type 5/6 protection, designed to help reduce exposure during powder handling, maintenance, and inspection work.

Ansell is a best-in-class PPE manufacturer, and SOSCleanroom maintains a close working relationship with Ansell to help customers standardize garment specifications, reduce substitution risk, and keep PPE availability consistent across shifts and sites.

Why this coverall matters for safety
  • Exposure control during powder work: Helps reduce contact with particulate hazards during handling, cleanup, and routine plant tasks.
  • Breathability supports compliance: Air and water vapor permeability helps reduce heat-stress risk so teams are more likely to keep PPE on for the full job.
  • Practical closure system: 2-way zipper with storm flap plus elasticated wrists/ankles/waist helps maintain coverage during movement.
  • Silicone-free for finishing environments: Silicone-free construction is noted as critical for spray-painting applications where surface defects and contaminant transfer are concerns.
Typical tasks supported (published)
  • Inspection (picking, checking and marking)
  • Asbestos-related work (when specified by your program and hazard assessment)
  • Handling of powders

Packaging and handling

Sold by the case: 25 individually packed coveralls. Individual packaging supports controlled distribution and helps prevent issuing damaged PPE from open bulk cartons.

Replace immediately if torn, punctured, or visibly contaminated. Follow your facility SOP for disposal based on the substance(s) encountered.

Storage and lifecycle control
  • Store in original packaging, in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
  • Inspect zipper, storm flap area, and seams before use.
  • Use FIFO and track expiration dates where required by your safety program.
Documentation

Use manufacturer documentation for EHS files, PPE training, and specification standardization.

PPE Program Article AlphaTec® 1500 Model 100 Type 5/6 (Dust + Limited Spray) Breathable SMS Silicone-Free
When the hazard is “routine,” injuries still happen

Many exposure incidents are not dramatic releases. They happen in everyday work: handling powders, sweeping residue, opening bags, equipment wipe-down, maintenance, and inspection. The risk rises when garments are too hot to wear consistently, when closures are left partially open, or when PPE is not staged where the work actually happens.

What AlphaTec® 1500 Model 100 is designed to do

AlphaTec® 1500 Model 100 is specified as a breathable, particle-filtering SMS coverall with Type 5/6 protection intended for hazardous particulates in general industrial environments. In practical terms, it is commonly selected for tasks where airborne dust and light spray are credible—but where teams still need comfort to stay compliant through the full job.

The garment design matters: Model 100 is described with a collar, a 2-way zipper with storm flap, and elasticated wrists/ankles/waist. Those details support better coverage during bending, reaching, and tool use—the moments where gaps typically appear.

Type 5/6 in plain operational language
  • Type 5: dust/particulate protection focus (common for powder handling and dusty work zones).
  • Type 6: limited liquid spray (helps with light, incidental splash—not a substitute for higher-barrier suits when saturation/sustained spray is expected).
Training-ready donning and doffing (reduces secondary exposure)
  • Pre-use inspection: check zipper function, storm flap alignment, and seam integrity before stepping into the work zone.
  • Closure discipline: zip fully and confirm storm flap coverage; partial closure is one of the most common failure points.
  • Interface control: ensure gloves overlap wrists and footwear coverage is appropriate for the task (per SDS and hazard assessment).
  • Change triggers: replace immediately if torn, punctured, or heavily contaminated—do not work through damage.
  • Doffing: treat the exterior as contaminated; peel/roll outward, avoid snapping material, and perform hand hygiene per SOP.
Why silicone-free matters beyond comfort

Silicone contamination is a known source of finishing defects in painting and coating operations. The manufacturer notes this garment is silicone-free and highlights its relevance to spray-painting applications. For EHS and quality teams, this is a practical way to reduce risk at the PPE level before rework and scrap appear downstream.

Why SOSCleanroom emphasizes best-in-class Ansell PPE

PPE programs fail when “equivalent” substitutes quietly enter the supply chain and training no longer matches what teams actually wear. Standardizing on a best-in-class manufacturer improves spec consistency, simplifies training, and reduces the operational risk of last-minute substitutions. SOSCleanroom's close relationship with Ansell supports that standardization through reliable sourcing and documentation access.
